TARENA – The Tajik Association of research and education networks was established in August 6th, 2000 as non-government and non-profit organization that coordinates user groups and networks in research institutions and other educational structures in republic of Tajikistan.          
The founders of TARENA are Presidium and institutions of Academy of science and high-education institutions of republic of Tajikistan. 
The main goal of TARENA is promoting and establishing hi-developed informational environment in republic of Tajikistan, covering all educational and R&D institutions and structures.     
In the time being more than 20 High-education institutions, 15 institutions of AC and more than 50 schools, are the members of TARENA.  Following is the list of establishments, qualified to be members of TARENA   Research and developing institutions;
- Hi-education structures;
- Colleges; 
- Schools and litcey; 
- Public and scientific libraries;
- Medical facilities (academicals);             
- Branches of activity:
- Creating republican research and educational WAN infrastructures;
   providing Internet service;
- Promoting of establishing and developing local area networks and 
  aggregating them into global networks;  
- Training specialists for maintenance of networks; 
- Developing and realizing educational models and methods on application
  of IT in all levels of education;   
- Developing IT resources and abilities republic of Tajikistan;    
- Providing necessary environment for republic of Tajikistan for integration 
  into international information community; 
- Encourage developing and enforcing international relations of scientific
  and educational communities republic of Tajikistan.    

History of developing;The first project that was realized on creating research and educational network infrastructure in Tajikistan was Network Infrastructure Grant of NATO science program. Thanks to this grant the wireless network was been established incorporating six institution Academy of Science and providing e-mail service for science community. 2001 – TARENA had got License form government structure “Tojik Telecom” 2003 – the second.
